Entebbe UPPC FC were held to a goalless draw by a resolute Maroons FC side in Entebbe, ending the Printers\u2019 scoring run that had stretched over two months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visitors arrived with one of the league\u2019s strongest defensive records, having conceded just three goals in their previous five matches, and they once again showed their organisation and discipline to frustrate the hosts. UPPC, who came into the contest sitting fifth on 26 points, looked to their in-form striker Kigozi to unlock the Maroons backline, but clear-cut chances proved hard to come by. Maroons, seventh on the table with 16 points (2 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses in their last five), were compact and patient, while the Printers (4 wins and a draw from their last five) struggled to find fluency for long spells<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were without Kawawa, who was sidelined with a muscular injury, while Odongo failed a late fitness test after a short illness. Male Joel was also unavailable due to a knock. Kiryowa was named at right back, with Mukiibi retaining his place on the left. <\/p>\n\n\n

UPPC returned with improved composure and greater control of the ball, pinning Maroons deeper into their half, but the visitors\u2019 defensive line held firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the hour mark, head coach Abdallah made a quadruple substitution, introducing Bunjo, Mubiru, Poloto and Fazil in place of Munguchi, Mukiibi, Kokas and Kyeyune as the Printers sought for a breakthrough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clearest opportunity of the match fell to Poloto after excellent work from Kigozi, who squared the ball from just two yards off the byline. Poloto met it with his weaker left foot, but Maroons goalkeeper Matovu Hassan produced an outstanding save, correctly anticipating the placement to deny what looked a certain goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite sustained pressure late on, UPPC could not find a way past the Maroons defence, and the contest ended goalless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
