Kigozi once again proved decisive as Entebbe UPPC FC ground out a hard-fought 1\u20130 victory over UPDF FC in a tightly contested Match Day 13 encounter at the expansive Bombo Barracks Grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a scorching afternoon in Bombo, with temperatures soaring to over 35\u00b0C on the league\u2019s largest playing surface, both sides were tested physically and tactically in an end-to-end contest that demanded resilience, discipline, and composure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team News<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We welcomed Isa Bugembe back into the starting XI, while Kawawa was named among the substitutes. Isa Mubiru did not travel due to personal reasons.

First Half<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The match began at a frantic pace, with UPDF FC nearly taking the lead inside the opening moments. A misplaced back pass from Odongo to Omedwa inside the six-yard box almost gifted the hosts an early opener, but it went over. It was the first of several clear-cut chances UPDF would rue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hosts dominated possession for the opening 30 minutes and created at least four big scoring opportunities, including an open-goal miss just seconds after kick-off. Despite sustained pressure, The Printers’ defensive unit stood firm, with goalkeeper Omedwa producing a series of outstanding saves to keep the scores level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPPC initially looked to exploit space on the counter, with their full-backs overlapping aggressively. However, the sheer size of the Bombo Barracks pitch and the oppressive heat began to take their toll, allowing UPDF to press higher and for longer spells. Gradually, though, the we grew into the game, registering a string of attempts and forcing several corner kicks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The breakthrough<\/strong> arrived in added time at the end of the first half. Omedwa launched a precise long ball that found Kyeyune on the right flank. With a clever one-touch pass, Kyeyune released Munguchi, the architect of the move. Munguchi floated a perfectly weighted aerial ball forward into Kigozi\u2019s path. Surrounded by three defenders and with the goalkeeper rushing out, Kigozi showed composure and quality\u2014beating one defender before calmly slotting the ball past the keeper.<\/p>\n\n\n

The visiting supporters erupted in celebration as Kigozi netted his seventh goal of the season, extending his lead at the top of the scoring charts. Moments later, referee Mr. Lucky brought the first half to a close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second Half<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

UPDF returned with renewed intensity, throwing bodies forward in search of an equaliser. They struck the woodwork, forced a flurry of corners, and continued to test the UPPC backline, but we remained resolute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coach Abdallah introduced Poloto for Kokas to add fresh legs and defensive stability. The pattern of the game remained largely unchanged\u2014UPDF pressing, UPPC absorbing pressure and threatening on the break. Once again, Omedwa was called into action, making crucial interventions to preserve what became a fourth consecutive clean sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the hosts\u2019 late push, The Printers managed the game expertly, seeing out the final minutes with composure and tactical maturity to secure all three points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Implications<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The victory lifts Entebbe UPPC FC to 26 points<\/strong>, maintaining 5th place<\/strong> on the table and closing to within one point of leaders Police FC<\/strong>, following KCCA FC’s goalless draw away to Maroons FC. Other top six\u2014including Vipers SC, SC Villa, and Kitara FC\u2014were yet to play in Match Day 13<\/p>\n\n\n\n
