URA FC and Entebbe UPPC FC returned to Uganda Premier League action eager to kick off 2026 on a winning note after nearly a month away. The hosts, under the guidance of a new technical bench led by Coach Hussein Mbalangu, were clearly intent on turning their season around. We, on the other hand, arrived driven by growing belief \u2014 confident in our ability to go toe-to-toe with the league\u2019s elite after winning three of our last four matches, including back-to-back victories over Express FC and Kitara FC. Momentum was ours to protect \u2014 and we rose to the challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a notable milestone as Kintu Sam \u201cTheo\u201d<\/strong> made his full debut, stepping into the holding midfield role for Isa Bugembe<\/strong>, who had just returned from injury. Isat Emma<\/strong> remained sidelined, while Poloto<\/strong> was named on the bench after recovering from a muscle injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Referee Mr. Asadu signalled kickoff just before 4pm on a clear but sweltering afternoon at HAMZ Stadium. Both sides showed early intent, but URA FC enjoyed more possession, probing patiently through midfield and into wide areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the hosts\u2019 control of the ball, we remained disciplined at the back, dealing with pressure through timely interceptions, blocks, and well-organised defensive positioning. Clear-cut chances were few, and the contest \u2014 though tactical \u2014 lacked goalmouth drama, with both sides heading into the break locked at 0\u20130.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second Half<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

URA returned with renewed intensity, increasing the use of long balls and aerial deliveries in an attempt to exploit their forwards\u2019 physical presence. It was during one such spell that they earned a corner \u2014 a moment that proved pivotal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omedwa<\/strong> dealt comfortably with the delivery before launching a quick counter-attack with a long throw down the right. Kigozi<\/strong> surged forward, evading multiple challenges with composure and awareness. With Kyeyune<\/strong> overlapping, Kigozi cleverly sold the defenders a pass before releasing Kyeyune into space. Kyeyune beat his marker and squared the ball back into the box, where Kigozi arrived to finish expertly at the near post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visiting end erupted. Jubilant scenes followed on the touchline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

URA responded by throwing numbers forward, introducing Ssenkatuuka<\/strong> and Kabon<\/strong> as they chased an equaliser. Coach Abdallah countered with the introduction of Poloto<\/strong> for Kokas<\/strong>, ensuring we retained balance and energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wave after wave of pressure followed, requiring last-ditch blocks, brave interceptions, fouls in smart areas, and crucial saves. At the other end, we came agonisingly close to extending the lead when Kigozi\u2019s<\/strong> low cross flashed across an empty net, narrowly missing three onrushing forwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, we held firm.<\/p>\n\n\n

At the final whistle, we walked away from HAMZ Stadium with all three points<\/strong>, a testament to discipline, maturity, and belief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
