We pushed the reigning Uganda Premier League champions to their limits in Entebbe but narrowly fell 1\u20130 to Vipers SC in a tense and high-quality encounter at the Fisheries Ground. Despite the result, the performance once again reflected our growing maturity and competitive edge at the top level.<\/p>

Starting XI and Team News<\/h3>

Head Coach Abdallah named a disciplined and hardworking side, with Omedwa<\/strong>, Odongo<\/strong>, Mubiru<\/strong>, Mujuzi (C)<\/strong>, Amayo<\/strong>, Bugembe<\/strong>, Isat<\/strong>, Munguchi<\/strong>, Ssenyonjo<\/strong>, Kawawa<\/strong>, and Tumwine Fazil<\/strong> all starting.<\/p>

Defender Mal<\/strong>e Joel <\/strong> remains sidelined but is steadily recovering from a dislocated wrist. Odongo Jonathan<\/strong> has continued to deputise impressively in his place since the Villa and NEC fixtures, earning recognition as Player of the Month for October<\/strong>.
Poloto<\/strong> also missed out, still in recovery from a muscle injury that kept him out of the NEC game, with Kawawa<\/strong> again starting in his position.
Kyeyune<\/strong> began on the bench, while Munguchi<\/strong> started in attacking midfield to add balance.<\/p>

Allan Okello<\/strong> did not feature, likely as a precaution.<\/p>

First Half<\/h2>

The champions started on the front foot, creating several early chances in search of quick goals. Our backline, however, stood firm and organised \u2014 Mujuzi<\/strong>, Odongo,Amayo<\/strong>, and Mubiru<\/strong> maintaining perfect shape to absorb the pressure.<\/p>

Goalkeeper Omedwa<\/strong> made a series of sharp saves to keep us level, but the defining moment of the half came from Odongo Jonathan<\/strong>, who produced a heroic goal-line clearance<\/strong> to deny Karisa\u2019s shot from an empty net \u2014 a moment that drew loud applause from the home crowd.<\/p>

We grew into the game, keeping possession with more confidence and pushing forward through Munguchi<\/strong> and Ssenyonjo<\/strong>, though the opening half ended goalless.<\/p>

Second Half<\/strong><\/h2>

The second period opened with greater intensity on both sides. We looked lively in transition, with Kigozi, Odongo<\/strong> and Kawawa<\/strong> combining well to stretch the Vipers defence.<\/p>

However, the visitors found their breakthrough in the 62nd minute<\/strong>, when Abdulkarim Watambala<\/strong> converted after a clever assist from Yunus Sentamu<\/strong>.<\/p>

We responded strongly, pressing high and forcing Vipers deeper. Bugembe<\/strong>, Kigozi<\/strong> and Kawawa<\/strong> both came close to finding the equaliser. Bugembe\u2019s free kick incredibly saved from the top left corner and 3 one on one chances saved by Mudekereza inside the six-yard box. Our substitutes Bunjo and Kyeyune added fresh energy late on, and Omedwa<\/strong> denied a second Vipers goal with another crucial save.<\/p>

What It Means<\/strong><\/h2>

It was a narrow defeat, but one that underscored our growing resilience and tactical discipline against elite opposition. The team\u2019s structure, defensive coordination, and work rate throughout the match left a clear statement that we can compete at the highest level.<\/p>

The result leaves us 8th<\/sup> <\/strong>on the Startimes Uganda Premier League <\/strong>table with 7 points, just four points off the summit. We now turn our focus to our next challenge \u2014 a trip to Yumbe to face Calvary FC<\/strong>, as we aim to bounce back and strengthen our position in the top half of the table.<\/p>
