The First Half

It was a hot, sunny afternoon in Midigo, with the picturesque Midigo Rock and green vegetation forming a stunning backdrop to the contest. The hosts began brightly, aiming to exploit their aerial strength through towering striker Lawrence Olaboro, last season’s Big League top scorer. Our backline, however, remained composed and dealt effectively with the early long balls.

We grew into the game after the opening 15 minutes, creating clear 1v1 chances for Ssenyonjo and Kawawa. The breakthrough arrived six minutes before halftime when Kawawa capped off a brilliant team move — Kyeyune threaded a precise pass from the right edge of the box, and Kawawa coolly slotted into the bottom left corner past the stretching goalkeeper.

Moments later, rain swept across Midigo, adding drama to the close of the half but not enough to interrupt play. We went into the break 1–0 up, confident and in control.

The Second Half

Both teams came out determined after the restart, but it was Ssenyonjo who doubled our advantage, carrying the ball from midfield and unleashing a driven strike from the edge of the box to make it 2–0 — sparking huge celebrations from our technical bench.

Not long after, Odongo delivered another of his trademark crosses, finding Kigozi, who neaty headed in his first of the season. The hosts responded soon after, pulling one back from a corner following a brief defensive mix-up.

We quickly restored control. In the 69th minute, Kyeyune capped his return to the starting lineup with a well-taken finish to give us a 4–1 cushion and all but seal the result. However, Calvary were handed a lifeline when Olaboro converted a penalty, sending Omedwa the wrong way to make it 4–2.

The final 20 minutes were end-to-end, with both sides creating chances, but we held firm to close out a thrilling victory in front of an energetic crowd.

Full-Time Reflection and Next Match

We marked a historic afternoon in Yumbe with a commanding 4–2 victory over Calvary FC, securing our first-ever Uganda Premier League win in the West Nile region.

The result lifts us to 5th place on the table with 10 points from six matches, just one point off the summit.
