Calvary FC Midigo 0-0 Gaddafi FC – FUFA Big League Matchday 18

Midigo Playground, Yumbe, 30th March 2025: A scorching afternoon in Yumbe saw Calvary FC Midigo and Gaddafi FC battle to a goalless draw in a tightly contested FUFA Big League encounter on Matchday 18.

The match kicked off in intense 34o heat, with both sides struggling to adapt to the stern, nearly grassless surface, which made fluent football difficult. The home side, Calvary FC, adjusted slightly better to the conditions and enjoyed marginally more possession, but clear-cut chances were few.

Gaddafi FC organized themselves well defensively, frustrating the hosts, and probing for counter openings. However, neither team could break the deadlock, as the first half ended 0-0.

Gaddafi FC made a tactical change at halftime, bringing on Mbula in place of Kalanda to add more attacking impetus. The visitors upped the pressure, pushing for a breakthrough, but Calvary FC held firm and even threatened on a few occasions with some neat build-up play.

In the dying seconds, a dangerous low cross from Joel Male found Bogere unmarked in front of an empty net, but with the goal at his mercy, he blazed his effort over the bar, leaving Gaddafi FC players and fans in disbelief. The referee blew for full-time shortly after, sealing a frustrating draw for both sides.

The result leaves Gaddafi FC in 3rd place with 32 points, still within touching distance of the top, trailing by only three points.

Next up, Gaddafi FC will shift focus to their next fixture: a crucial home clash against Onduparaka FC on April 6, 2025, where they will look to return to winning ways and close the gap at the top.
