Entebbe, 17th December 2024: Samuel Kawawa returned to the starting XI, while Batiibwe, Kazibwe, and Maganda missed out due to injury. The game began with both teams making several goal attempts in search of an early breakthrough. Kawawa was particularly lively, taking the most shots and showcasing his attacking prowess.

The breakthrough finally came in the 34th minute when the opponents’ defenders misjudged a long ball from Ssekeba, allowing it to land perfectly at Kawawa’s feet. The skillful forward beat two defenders and chipped the goalkeeper, sparking jubilant celebrations among the home fans.

The contest remained competitive, though Gadaffi FC gained dominance in the second half with waves of attacks and goal attempts. Duncan Ssemakula replaced Joel Male, who was experiencing discomfort in his left foot, while Frank Kalanda made way for Jonathan Mbula to reinforce the attack.

The intensity continued, with Savio and Enzama receiving bookings. Captain Thomas Kakaire doubled the lead with a well-struck shot from the edge of the box, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to the spot and igniting wild celebrations.

Nine minutes later, during another offensive surge, Mbula was brought down in the penalty area. He confidently stepped up to take the spot-kick, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and securing all three points.

This victory propelled Gaddafi FC back to the top of the FUFA Big League table with 20 points, tied with Blacks Power FC but holding a game in hand. It marked Gaddafi’s sixth win of the season in nine games and maintained perfect home record with four wins out of four.

The next match will be against Arua Hill FC on Sunday, 22nd December in Gulu, where Gaddafi FC aims to extend its lead at the top as we head into the festive break.
