Gaddafi FC Tops FUFA Table after Victory over Ntugasaze FC

Mityana, 1st December 2024: Gaddafi FC traveled to Mityana for a hard-fought match against Ntugasaze FC, securing a crucial 1-0 victory that restored their position at the top of the Big League table.
The match began with intensity, and Gaddafi FC capitalized early. In just the 4th minute, Ahmed Amayo delivered a stunning header off a well-taken corner by Kakaire, igniting celebrations among the eight traveling fans.
However, the match took a physical turn as the hosts pushed forward with aggressive attacks. Midfielder Dan Kazibwe suffered a knee injury in the 12th minute and was substituted for Batiibwe Okello, prompting a tactical shift with Micheal Lubowa moving to the right wing. Despite the pressure, Gaddafi’s defense, led by the resolute goalkeeper Ssekeba, stood firm.
In the second half,Brian Kyeyune was replaced by Duncan Sseninde as GaddafI adjusted to withstand the hosts’ relentless attacks. Ntugasaze FC dominated possession and bombarded the Gaddafi’s defense, particularly after the 70th minute.
Frank Kalanda appeared to double Gaddafi’s lead on a counter-attack, but the goal was controversially ruled offside, leaving the visitors frustrated. The defense, marshaled by Ssekeba, put on a heroic display to repel wave after wave of attacks.
Stoppage Time:
The fourth official initially signaled four minutes of added time, but chaos ensued after the 91st minute. Ntugasaze’s technical team and officials incited a rowdy crowd, accusing the referees of unfair decisions. The situation escalated as the home supporters turned violent, attacking Gaddafi’s fans and even attempting to disarm a soldier.
Despite the turmoil, play resumed, and Gaddafi endured over 12 minutes of extended stoppage time. With nerves of steel, the team held their ground to secure a vital three points.
The win marked Gaddafi’s fifth victory of the season and their second away from home. It propels them back to the summit of the Big League table after eight matches.
