StarTimes Uganda Premier League – Match Day 11
Entebbe UPPC FC 1–0 Kitara FC
Fisheries Ground, Bugonga – Entebbe

We came into this one with one clear objective – to make a statement. Having won three of our last five matches, with the only setbacks coming against Police FC and a draw away to Mbarara City, confidence was steadily building within the camp. Standing in our way were a red-hot Kitara FC side who had won four of their last five, including impressive away victories over URA FC and Police FC, and had only fallen to SC Villa.

It was the perfect test — and one we passed with authority and discipline.

Starting XI & Team News

Head Coach Abdallah made two changes from the side that defeated Express FC.
Isa Mubiru and John Kokas came into the starting XI in place of Marvin Mukiibi and Noordin Bunjo.

Starting XI:
Omedwa, Odongo, Amayo, Mujuzi ©, Bugembe, Ssenyonjo, Munguchi, Isa Mubiru, Kokas, Kyeyune, Kigozi.

First Half

As expected, both sides started on the front foot, trading early blows in an entertaining opening phase. We asked early questions through Kigozi, Munguchi, and Kokas, while Kitara’s danger man Patrick Kaddu was tightly marshalled by Mujuzi and Amayo, who barely gave him room to breathe.

Our pressure finally paid off just after the half-hour mark. A flowing team move down the left flank saw Isa Mubiru glide into space inside the 18-yard area before delivering a perfectly weighted cut-back. Kokas, arriving with intent, made no mistake — rifling his effort into the roof of the net to open his UPPC FC account and send the home crowd into celebration.

Kitara responded by ramping up the tempo, pushing numbers forward, but our backline remained composed and organised, ensuring we went into the break with a deserved lead.

Second Half

The second period followed a similar pattern, with the visitors pressing hard in search of an equaliser and us looking dangerous on the break. Kawawa was introduced 20 minutes in, replacing Kokas, as we sought fresh energy up front.

Kitara’s biggest opportunity arrived late in the game when the referee pointed to the spot, judging Odongo to have fouled in the area. Wasswa Emmanuel stepped up for the Royals — but blazed the penalty over the bar, drawing a huge roar from the Bugonga faithful.

From there, we managed the closing stages expertly, staying compact, disciplined, and focused to see out a massive victory

Full-Time Reflection

The 1–0 win sees us leapfrog Kitara FC into fifth place, moving to 20 points, just six off league leaders KCCA FC and firmly in the mix behind Police FC, Vipers SC, and SC Villa.

It was a fitting way to wrap up Match Day 11 and the calendar year, underlining our growth, belief, and competitiveness at this level.
