Gaddafi FC Exits Stanbic Uganda Cup 2025

Entebbe Works Playground, 18th March 2025: Gaddafi FC bowed out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 defeat to Uganda Premier League side Kitara FC in the Round of 16 clash.

The match was evenly contested from the start, with both teams cautiously studying each other. Captain Thomas Kakaire gave us the perfect start, firing home in the 17th minute to put us ahead. However, nine minutes later, Fred Amaku equalized for the visitors, capitalizing on a rebound from a set-piece that we failed to clear.

We had a golden opportunity to regain the lead through Brian Kyeyune, but Kitara’s goalkeeper well saved his effort. Towards the end of the first half, Kyeyune was replaced by Sseninde, while Jonathan Mbula came on for Kasirye Davis, who was experiencing foot discomfort.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams battling for control. Unfortunately, Kitara FC found the breakthrough in the 65th minute, scoring their second goal. Despite pushing hard for an equalizer, we couldn’t find the back of the net.

Despite the loss, the team put up a commanding display and showed no fear against the Uganda Premier League giants.

The result means the Gaddafi Stanbic Uganda Cup journey ends here, however, the team will quickly shift focus to the FUFA Big League, where they face Calvary FC (March 23rd) and Paidha Black Angels (March 30th) in the upcoming fixtures.
