
2nd March 2025, Entebbe Works playground: Gaddafi FC suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Karo Karungi, conceding in the dying minutes of the game.
The match started on an even footing, with both teams searching for an early breakthrough. As the first half progressed, the home side grew into the game, applying pressure on Karo Karungi’s defense. Despite creating promising opportunities, Gaddafi FC was unable to break the deadlock before halftime.
In the second half, Gaddafi ramped up the intensity, launching wave after wave of attacks. Ten minutes in, Yasir replaced Bithum on the right wing, and moments later, Lule came on for Kakaire. Kawawa and Mbula had the best chances of the match, especially in the second half, but both were unfortunate not to convert.
As regular time expired, the fourth official signaled a minimum of five added minutes. Gaddafi continued to push forward, asking all the right questions, but in the 93rd minute, disaster struck. A long forward pass was misjudged by Gaddafi’s defender, allowing the opponent to control the ball inside the box and fire a low shot into the bottom left corner—securing a heartbreaking late winner for Karo Karungi.
With this result, Gaddafi FC drops to second place in the league standings. Blacks Power, who hold a head-to-head advantage, earned a point, bringing them level to 30 points.
